Fahdo Bello lives and works from his studio in Lagos, Nigeria. Working across traditional painting, digital art, 2D animation and murals, his surrealist practice explores the human condition and a spectrum of inner states.
THE PRACTICE
Fahdo Bello’s artistic journey began in 2013, when his older brother introduced him to drawing. Shaped by experimentation and persistence, his practice draws influence from Toshio Saeki, Broken Fingaz and Junji Ito, alongside pop culture, fashion and streetwear.
His path began with football before shifting toward skateboarding. He later joined WAF as a graphic designer and became a professional skater in 2022. Alongside these experiences, he has developed a visual practice spanning traditional painting, digital art, 2D animation and murals.
Drawing from personal experience and the way he sees the world, Bello uses bold colour and surreal imagery to explore emotional and mental health. His vivid, emotionally charged compositions move across anxiety, depression, joy and love. Through his work, he seeks to foster empathy and connection, reminding viewers that they are not alone and that darkness can be transformed into something meaningful.
